Ms. Bi-khim Hsiao
Legislator
The Republic of China (Taiwan)


Bi-khim Hsiao is one of the youngest female politicians in current
Taiwanese politics. She has been an active participant in Taiwanese
politics for more than 10 years. Before assuming the position as
Legislator, Ms. Hsiao served as an advisor and interpreter to President
Chen for almost two years. She was also a consultant to the Mainland
Affairs Council. Before joining the current administration, Ms. Hsiao was
the Director of the Department of International Affairs at the Democratic
Progressive Party. During her term at the DPP, she was the youngest
Director among all at the DPP Headquarters.

Ms. Bi-khim Hsiao excels in international affairs. She began her political
career in the DPP?s Washington D.C. Office as Program Coordinator. Before
devoting herself to politics, she was already involved in Taiwanese
politics on campus in college. During the 1996 Cross-Strait Crisis, as a
graduate student, she mobilized overseas Taiwanese students to protest
against China?s missile threats.

Ms. Bi-khim Hsiao received an MA in Political Science from Columbia
University and a BA in East Asian Studies from Oberlin College.
