You Si-kun: Relations between Taiwan and Czech Republic continue thrive. He hoped this visit will allow more Czech people and the international community to see Yilan and Taiwan.
Accompanied by Legislators Chen Ou-po, Legislator Chen Wan-hui, Secretary General Lin Jih-jia, Yilan County Magistrate Lin Zi-miao, Yilan County Council Speaker Zhang Sheng-de, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Roy Chun Lee, Deputy Minister of Culture Lee Ching-hwi, Representative to the Czech Republic Ke Liang-ruey, Legislative Secretariat Director Kung Ping-chieh, National Center for Traditional Arts Secretary General Lai Ming-ren, Sunmake Cultures Foundation Executive Director Lo Hsin-yi, President You Si-kun welcomed Speaker Adamová to visit the Kavalan Whisky Distillery and National Center for Traditional Arts.
In front of the distillery, President You and Speaker Adamová stated in the press interview that facing the CCP hegemony’s rise. China does not have human rights nor freedom. We should cherish the freedom and democracy. He thanked the Czech ruling and opposition parties to support Taiwan. There were a total of 150 members of the delegation, who took two aircrafts to Taiwan. The delegation was comprised of the office of prime minister, representatives of government agencies and business community. It was like a epitome of the Czech central government, showing the cordial friendship of the Czech Republic to Taiwan. Although Taiwan and Czech Republic do not have diplomatic relations, both countries hare freedom and democracy and therefore value the friendship very much.
President You once again thanked the Czech Senate President Milos Vistril for visiting Taiwan more than two years ago, ushering a new chapter for the relations between Taiwan and the Czech Republic. Speaker Adamová Speaker Adamová further deepened this friendship and made it thrive. He was delighted to see the development.
President You continued to state that when hosting foreign dignitaries, they were always happy to see Kavalan Whisky, which receives international attention and is popular worldwide. He stressed that Kawalan Whisky was fermented in his hometown. Because of this land is blessed with good weather and environment, so high-quality whisky can be produced. This is also a good example of collaboration between Taiwan and Europe. He believed that there would be more and better cooperation in the future. President You stated that direct flight would be launched in July. It will benefit future exchanges.
When Speaker You was interviewed in front of the National Center of Tradition Arts, she stated that because Taiwan was colonized by many countries in early years, it has diversified culture. Therefor, it is very important to preserve traditional culture. When he served as Yilan county magistrate, he hoped to promote Taiwan’s traditional arts. Therefore, he launched this project and the center started to operate when he was the premier of the Executive Yuan. National Center of Traditional Arts is an epitome of all Taiwanese traditional arts. He recommended that when the Czech people visit Taiwan, please do visit the center. He further pointed out that after the direct flight started in July, he recommended the people of Taiwan to visit the Czech Republic. Prague is a beautiful city designated as the UNESCO World Heritage Site. For those who love to travel, if you have never been to Prague, don’t say you have been abroad.
When Speaker Adamová was asked by the media, she first of all thanked President You for arranging the visit to the National Center of Traditional Arts. After she went back home, she would promote this place. In addition, there would be direct flights between the Czech Republic and Taiwan in summer, she believed that exchanges for sure would intensify. When Speaker Adamová watched the Lang Yang Taiwanese Opera Troupe performed Hero Chiang Wei-shui. she further understood the difficulties Taiwan experienced to strive for democracy and defend democracy. The Czech Republic shares the values of freedom and democracy and is a true friend of Taiwan. That is why she led the delegation comprised of the academia, the business community and government officials to Taiwan. This visit was especially valuable after the termination of diplomatic ties with Honduras.
