Vice President Tsai, on behalf of the Legislative Yuan, warmly welcomed Representative Yaron's visit. He noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of reciprocal representative offices between Taiwan and Israel. In February, there was a meeting with the former Israeli representative to Taiwan to discuss how to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Taiwan-Israel exchanges. This included plans for commemorative activities during the opening ceremony of a professional baseball game at the Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, these plans did not materialize. Vice President Tsai expressed the hope for continued positive interaction with the Israel Economic and Cultural Office to deepen the substantive and friendly relationship between Taiwan and Israel. Representative Yaron expressed her gratitude and hoped Vice President Tsai can offer a contact point for further promotion of this initiative. Vice President Tsai suggested her to maintain contact with relevant units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Legislative Yuan would be pleased to see progress in this regard.
Representative Yaron explained that the Israel Economic and Cultural Office in Taipei, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of bilateral exchanges, held a photography exhibition from January to March this year. The exhibition showcased works related to Israel by Taiwanese photographers. Additionally, an Israeli parliamentary delegation visited Taiwan in August, meeting with President Tsai Ing-wen and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu. The discussions on common concerns were fruitful. Members of the Israel-Taiwan Friendship Association in the Israeli parliament (Knesset) are also supportive of Taiwan. Vice President Tsai responded by stating that the similar values of Taiwan and Israel provide a foundation for deepening exchanges on top of existing close cooperation. Representative Yaron mentioned that after Taiwan's National Day celebrations in October, a delegation of Israeli think tank scholars will come to Taiwan to participate in a symposium on the 30th anniversary of Taiwan-Israel relations organized by the Prospect Foundation and National Chengchi University. Regarding sports and athletic exchanges, she expressed her knowledge of the popularity of baseball in Taiwan and hoped for continuous promotion of relevant exchanges and cooperation between the two sides. She also expressed the hope of inviting Vice President Tsai to attend events organized by the Israel Economic and Cultural Office. Representative Yaron further discussed various topics, including the upcoming January elections in Taiwan, bilateral economic and trade investment, and technological cooperation.
Finally, Vice President Tsai and Representative Yaron exchanged gifts and took a commemorative photo, concluding the meeting after about half an hour.
