Vice President of the Legislative Yuan Johnny C. Chiang leads a delegation from the "Taiwan-Czech and Taiwan-Austria Parliamentary Friendship Association" and "Republic of China (Taiwan)-Spain Parliamentary Amity Association" on trip to Europe. Vice President Chiang: Continuing parliamentary diplomacy during recess, aiming to deepen Taiwan-Europe friendship. On the evening of July 20 at 9:45 p.m., Vice President of the Legislative Yuan Johnny C. Chiang led the "Taiwan-Czech and Taiwan-Austria Parliamentary Friendship Association" and the "Republic of China (Taiwan)-Spain Parliamentary Amity Association" on a parliamentary diplomatic visit to the Czech Republic, Spain, and Italy. This 13-day trip is expected to conclude with their return to Taiwan on August 1. The delegation includes Legislators Wan Mei-ling, Lu Yu-Ling, Wang Yu-Min, Ko Chih-En, Hung Mong-Kai, and Lin Yi-Chun, totaling seven members.

In an interview, Vice President Chiang, stated that this visit marks the Legislative Yuan’s first parliamentary diplomacy mission to Europe following the recess. The itinerary includes visits to the Czech Republic, Spain, and Italy. This year marks the first anniversary of direct flights between Prague and Taiwan, and next year, artifacts from the National Palace Museum will be exhibited in the Czech Republic. Additionally, plans include a visit to the National Science and Technology Council's overseas IC design training center to witness the results of active Taiwan-Czech educational and technological exchanges. The most significant aspect of this parliamentary diplomacy trip is a visit to both the Chamber of Deputies and Senate of the Czech Republic, where meetings with Speaker Miloš Vystrčil and numerous parliamentarians are scheduled.

Vice President Chiang further stated that the itinerary includes participation in the Annual Conference for Overseas Compatriots in Europe in Spain, a major event for the overseas compatriots’ community in Europe. The delegation will represent the Legislative Yuan and engage with the overseas community while also extending their regards to expatriates. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently opened the new Taipei Representative Office in Italy - Milan Office and relocated the Taipei Representative Office in Italy - Rome Office to new premises, both of which were approved during past Legislative Yuan budget reviews. This visit will include inspections of these offices and their operations, as well as meetings with local parliamentarians.

Regarding the upcoming visit to the United States in August, Vice President Chiang mentioned that he and other Legislative Yuan members have been invited to attend the annual conference of the Taiwan Benevolent Association of America (TBAA), which will take place in mid-August in Houston. The trip is still in the planning stages. If the opportunity arises, he intends to visit Houston and nearby cities to engage with local members of the U.S. Congress.

After the interview, Vice President Chiang, along with the accompanying legislators, participated in a group photo and wished for the success of the Legislative Yuan's European parliamentary diplomacy trip.
