Deputy Secretary General Chang Yu-Jung attends inauguration ceremony of the Legislative Yuan Climate Resilience and Sustainable Energy Development Promotion Association

Deputy Secretary General Dr. Chang Yu-Jung of the Legislative Yuan attended the inauguration ceremony of the Legislative Yuan Climate Resilience and Sustainable Energy Development Promotion Association, initiated by DPP Legislator Dr. Wu Li-Hua (Saidhai Tahovecahe), on the morning of May 26. Distinguished guests in attendance included DPP Legislator Dr. Lin Yueh-Chin, DPP Legislator Dr. Loh Mei-Ling, and DPP Legislator Dr. Wang Yi-Chuan, as well as Acting Director General Lee Chun-Li of the Energy Administration under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Deputy Director General Hsu Hsu-Cheng of the Climate Change Administration under the Ministry of Environment, and Director Wang Jui-Ying of the Economic Development Department under the Council of Indigenous Peoples, among others, who gathered to mark the occasion.


The inauguration ceremony commenced with opening remarks by initiator Legislator Wu Li-Hua (Saidhai Tahovecahe), followed by the adoption of the association’s charter and the election of its president and vice presidents. Deputy Secretary General Chang then delivered remarks, expressing his honor in representing President Daniel K.Y. Han at the inauguration ceremony of the Legislative Yuan Climate Resilience and Sustainable Energy Development Promotion Association. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to legislator Wu (Saidhai Tahovecahe) and all distinguished guests in attendance, thanking every partner committed to this land for coming together to take collective action for the sake of our environment and shared future.

 

Deputy Secretary General Chang emphasized that the Legislative Yuan Climate Resilience and Sustainable Energy Development Promotion Association brings together collective wisdom and the capacity for action from all sectors. He added that climate change is not an abstract concept, but a pressing reality that affects every individual’s daily life. He stated that at a time when climate-related disasters are becoming increasingly frequent and energy transition is ever more urgent, this is not only a technological revolution, but also a fundamental choice of values. He emphasized that we must pursue energy development while safeguarding our land and cultural heritage.

 

In conclusion, Deputy Secretary General Chang stated that as the policy-making hub of the nation, the Legislative Yuan will continue to support cross-sectoral collaboration platforms such as this association with openness and transparency, ensuring that the voices of civil society are heard and that relevant policies and legislation are better aligned with the needs of the people. He expressed his hope that the establishment of the association would mark the beginning of strengthened public-private collaboration, working together to shape a more resilient and sustainable future for Taiwan.

 

The ceremony continued with congratulatory remarks delivered by Deputy Director General Hsu of the Climate Change Administration under the Ministry of Environment, Acting Director General Lee of the Energy Administration under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, and Director Wang of the Economic Development Department under the Council of Indigenous Peoples. Legislator Wu (Saidhai Tahovecahe) then invited the distinguished guests to join in a group photo and engage in cordial exchanges. The event concluded successfully after approximately 40 minutes.
