Legislative Yuan Vice President Dr. Johnny C. Chiang hosts banquet for homecoming delegation of the 33rd Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce; Vice President Chiang: Supporting overseas compatriots and Taiwanese businesses is a cross-party consensus of the Legislative Yuan On the evening of March 30, Legislative Yuan Vice President Dr. Johnny C. Chiang (江啟臣), accompanied by Vice Chairs Chung Chia-Pin and Tsai Chun-Chou of the Legislative Yuan Association of Overseas Taiwanese Businessmen, as well as KMT Legislator Niu Hsu-Ting, hosted a banquet for the returning delegation of the 33rd Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (ASTCC).

In his remarks, Vice President Chiang, on behalf of the Legislative Yuan and President Daniel K.Y. Han (韓國瑜), warmly welcomed the delegation back home. He noted that in December 2025, he traveled to Singapore to attend the joint board meeting of ASTCC, where he participated in a series of activities with Taiwanese businesspeople and engaged with various sectors in Singapore, achieving fruitful results. He emphasized that all legislators place great importance on Taiwanese businesses and are willing to attend events worldwide to demonstrate the Legislative Yuan’s strong support.

Vice President Chiang further noted that ASTCC President Chen Shu-Chin has actively advocated for the interests of Taiwanese businesspeople through extensive outreach efforts, which he highly commended. He also expressed his sincere gratitude for the contributions made by Taiwanese businesspeople to Taiwan. He stressed that regardless of where they are based, Taiwanese businesspeople remain deeply connected to Taiwan and, while developing their enterprises, serve as a vital bridge linking Taiwan to the world and helping elevate Taiwan’s global presence.

Vice President Chiang pointed out that uncertainties persist in the current global landscape, including geopolitical tensions and fluctuations in energy prices. However, he expressed confidence that, with their keen market insight and strong adaptability, Taiwanese businesspeople will continue to make steady progress despite the challenges and will seize opportunities in times of upheaval. He further noted that the strength, resilience, and flexibility demonstrated by Taiwanese businesspeople are a key force for Taiwan in addressing global challenges, and he expressed hope that people in Taiwan and overseas will continue to work together.

In closing, Vice President Chiang emphasized that the Legislative Yuan will always serve as the strongest backing for Taiwanese businesspeople, and that supporting them is the greatest cross-party consensus of the legislature. He warmly invited everyone to return home often and share valuable insights, adding that legislators across party lines will work together to support the development of overseas Taiwanese businesses.

In her remarks, ASTCC President Chen Shu-Chin expressed her gratitude on behalf of the delegation to Vice President Chiang and legislators from different parties for hosting the banquet. She noted that the delegation had visited various government agencies earlier in the day and successfully signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce, Taiwan. Echoing Vice President Chiang’s remarks, she emphasized that the Legislative Yuan is not only the strongest supporter and home for overseas Taiwanese businesspeople, but also demonstrates remarkable unity across party lines in supporting them despite differences in views in domestic matters.

President Chen further noted that this year, ASTCC has launched the “Taiwanese Business Ecosystem 2.0” initiative, in line with its founding mission of promoting cooperation among Taiwanese business communities across Asia, advancing industrial and commercial development, and expanding into international markets. Through this initiative, she hopes to strengthen connections among Taiwanese businesses worldwide in four key areas—industry, capital, technology, and markets—and to realize the vision of “business without borders”.

In closing, President Chen expressed heartfelt appreciation, noting that with the full support of the Legislative Yuan, overseas Taiwanese businesspeople have a strong foundation as they expand their ventures. She conveyed her sincere gratitude on behalf of all Taiwanese businesspeople and wished everyone well and continued success.

Following a group photo and an exchange of commemorative gifts between Vice President Chiang, attending legislators, and the delegation, the banquet officially commenced. During the event, both sides engaged in wide-ranging discussions on economic cooperation, overseas community affairs, and tourism. The banquet lasted approximately 100 minutes and concluded in a warm and cordial atmosphere. (2026/03/30)
