韓國瑜院長：台灣有強大的生命力和爆發力，期盼英國未來在尋求投資合作夥伴時，將台灣做為首選。
President Daniel K.Y. Han: “Taiwan boasts strong vitality and momentum. It is hoped that Taiwan could be the first choice of the U.K. for an investment partner.”

立法院韓院長本（3月21）日上午11時00分應邀出席由張嘉郡委員發起之「中華民國與英國國會聯誼會」成立大會。現場出席貴賓包括謝衣鳯委員、萬美玲委員、林倩綺委員、陳冠廷委員、陳菁徽委員、呂玉玲委員、王鴻薇委員、楊瓊櫻委員、鄭正鈐委員、廖偉翔委員、林德福委員、立法院副秘書長張裕榮，以及英國在台辦事處代表鄧元翰、外交部政務次長謝武樵、僑務委員會副委員長阮昭雄、經濟部國際貿易署主任秘書戴婉蓉，均共襄與會。
On Mach 21, 2024, President Daniel K.Y. Han of the Legislative Yuan attended at 11:00 a.m. the inauguration of ROC-UK Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association, convened by Legislator Chang Chia-chun. Also in attendance were Legislators Hsieh Yi-fong, Wan Mei-ling, Lin Chien-chi, Chen Kuan-ting, Chen Ching-hui, Lu Yu-ling, Wang Hung-wei, Yang Chiung-ying, Cheng Cheng-chien, Liao Wei-hsiang, Lin Te-fu; Deputy Secretary-General Chang Yu-jung of the Legislative Yuan; Representative John Dennis of British Office Taipei; Deputy Foreign Minister Kelly Hsieh Wu-chiao; Deputy Minister Ruan Jhao-syong of Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC); Secretary-General Day Wan-jung of the International Trade Administration, under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

成立大會首先由聯誼會發起人張嘉郡委員及英國在台辦事處鄧元翰代表分別致詞後，續由韓院長致詞。院長表示非常開心今日來參加由張嘉郡委員發起之「中華民國與英國國會聯誼會」成立大會，同時也很高興本聯誼會有跨黨派委員的熱情參與及支持。張委員在英國長大，對台灣又有著濃厚的情感，加上她長年擔任中華民國與英國的交流橋樑，相信由張委員擔任本會會長，定能對台英雙方諸多領域的合作有所助益。
The inauguration commenced with the addresses by Convener Chang Chia-chun and Representative John Dennis of British Office Taipei, followed by a remark by President Han. President Han expressed his joy in attending the inauguration of the association convened by Legislator Chang, and it was also delightful to see the support of legislators from multiple parties. Convener Chang grew up in the U.K., but also has a strong affection for Taiwan. In addition, she has served as a bridge between the Republic of China and the U.K. for years; it is believed that having Convener Chang as the president of the Association will definitely deepen collaborations between the two nations in several aspects.

院長續指出，台灣位於大中華經濟圈的周邊，雖然土地面積狹小，僅占全球總面積的千分之三，人口也僅占全球總人口的千分之三，但台灣的工業產業卻占全球的百分之三。這顯示台灣擁有強大的生命力和爆發力。他期待英國未來在尋求投資合作夥伴時，將台灣列為首選。此外，他也期待台英能在更多領域擴展合作。院長舉例表示，近年來台灣因為少子化的衝擊，許多大專院校紛紛退場。如果英國的國際知名大學願意在台灣設立分校，讓亞洲國家的學生能夠就近接受英國高等教育，不僅可為亞洲學生提供另一個選擇，也將創造台英雙方互惠的雙贏局面。院長最後祝福並期許在本院委員的努力、以及英國駐台辦事處和外交部的協助下，台英關係能夠更上層樓。
President Han continued to state that Taiwan is located on the periphery of the Greater China Economic Circle. Although its land area is small, accounting for only three-thousandths of the world’s total surface area, and its population also only accounts for three-thousandths of the world’s population, Taiwan’s industries contribute a value of three percent of that around the globe. This shows that Taiwan boasts strong vitality and momentum. It is hoped that Taiwan could be the first choice of the U.K. for an investment partner. President Han also pointed out that Taiwan looks forward to having partnerships with the U.K. in more fields. For instance, due to the impact of declining birthrate in recent years, many colleges and universities in Taiwan have closed. Should a world-renowned British university be willing to set up branch campuses in Taiwan, students from Asian countries will be able to receive higher education under the British system while enjoying geographical proximity. This will not only provide an extra option for students in Asia, but also create a win-win situation that benefits both Taiwan and the UK. In closing, President Han expressed his hope that Taiwan-UK relations will advance to a higher level with the efforts of Taiwan’s legislators and the assistance from British Office Taipei and Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

院長致詞結束後與在場貴賓在愉悅氣氛中進行合影，成立大會續由外交部政務次長謝武樵及僑務委員會副委員長阮昭雄分別致詞，繼通過本會組織章程暨推選會長與副會長後，歷約一小時順利結束。
After the address by President Han, group photos were taken with all the attending legislators and guests in warmth and joy, and addresses were also given by Deputy Foreign Minister Hsieh and OCAC Deputy Minister Ruan. The event concluded after 1 hour, with the organizational charter of the Association passed and its president and vice presidents elected.
