立法院韓國瑜院長於本（4月11）日中午在本院江啟臣副院長、國民黨張嘉郡委員、民眾黨陳昭姿委員、國際事務處林晨富處長，以及外交部田中光政務次長、亞東太平洋司藍夏禮司長等人陪同下，接見及款宴「澳洲跨黨派國會議員訪問團」一行5人。「台灣與澳洲、紐西蘭國會友好聯誼會」會長邱議瑩委員在主持委員會結束後，亦趕赴本院議場接待訪賓一行。
On the afternoon of April 11, Legislative Yuan President Daniel Han met and hosted a luncheon in honor of five-member cross-party delegation of Australian parliamentarians. In attendance were Vice President Dr. Johnny C. Chiang, KMT legislator Chang Chia-chun, Taiwan People’s Party Legislator Chen Gau-Tzu, International Affairs Department Director Kalvin C.F. Lin, Deputy Minister Tien Chung-kwang, and East Asian and Pacific Affairs Department Director General Peter Sha-li Lan from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After Legislator Chiu Yi-ying, who is also chairperson of Taiwan-Australia and New Zealand Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association presided over a committee meeting, she went to the chamber to welcome the delegation.
韓院長首先熱情向訪賓問候致意，並偕江副院長與出席委員及訪賓合影，院長致詞時感謝諾伊曼（Shayne Neumann）眾議員及華勒斯（Andrew Wallace）眾議員聯袂率領澳洲跨黨派國會議員訪台，有朋自遠方來，他感到非常開心，特別邀請各政黨推派代表一同歡迎，以跨黨派方式接待是深化台澳國會交流最好的方式。
President Han first of all conveyed his greetings to the delegation and posed for group photos along with Vice President Chiang, attending legislators and the delegation. In his remarks, President Han thanked Shayne Neumann MP, Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade; and Andrew Wallace MP, Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security for leading a cross-party delegation of Australian parliamentarians. It is always a great pleasure to welcome friends from afar. So, he invited legislators from the three major political party causes to welcome the delegation. He believed that this cross-party welcome was the best way to deepen parliamentary exchanges between Taiwan and Australia.
院長繼稱，台灣人民對澳洲充滿好感，不僅風景秀麗，土地遼闊，資源豐富，更有深厚的文化底蘊，他仍記得澳洲賣座全球的電影「鱷魚先生」（Crocodile Dundee）影片中寬闊的風景，使台灣人民十分嚮往澳洲的風土民情，今天見到各位訪賓更是備感親切。他指出台澳關係密切友好，台灣自澳洲進口37%液化天然氣以及煤鐵等許多礦產，因此，澳洲對台灣的產業發展至關重要，例如，設址於高雄台灣最大的鋼鐵公司「中鋼」即進口澳洲鐵礦，未來希望台澳能續加強人民、企業及國會間的交流，讓彼此關係更臻友好。
President Han continued to state that the people of Taiwan have good feelings toward Australia, because it has beautiful scenery, vast land, rich resources and diversified culture. He still remembered the magnificent movie sets in “Crocodile Dundee”, a global blockbuster, which makes the people of Taiwan admire Australian tradition and culture. Therefore, he was especially delightful to meet the delegation today. He pointed out that Taiwan and Australia enjoy cordial and close relations. Taiwan imports 37% Liquid Natural Gas (LNG), iron ore and many other minerals from Australia. As such, Australia plays a vital role in Taiwan’s industrial development. For example, headquartered in Kaohsiung, China Steel Corporation (CSC), the biggest steel company in Taiwan, imports Australian iron ores. He hoped that both sides can continue to strengthen people-to-people, business and parliamentary exchanges to further bilateral relations.
院長續謂，台灣土地面積占全球土地萬分之3；人口占全球人口千分之3，但台灣的工業產品占全球百分之3，足證台灣發展的潛力，盼台澳能有更多合作，讓彼此關係更加深化友好。他特別提及，澳洲明年將擔任「跨太平洋全面進步夥伴協定」（CPTPP）主席國，盼能支持台灣加入CPTPP，以共同促進印太地區的發展及繁榮，這也是台灣國會跨黨派的共同願望。
President Han pointed out that Taiwan has only 0.03% of the global landmass, 0.3% of the world population, but 3% of the global industrial products, demonstrating Taiwan’s strong potential for development. He hoped to see more cooperation between Taiwan and Australia to further deepen bilateral cordial cooperation. He especially mentioned that Australia will be the chair for the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) in 2025. He asked for Australia’s support to Taiwan’s accession to it to promote the Indo-Pacific development and prosperity. This is also the common whish for Taiwan’s cross-party lawmakers.
訪團共同團長諾伊曼眾議員致詞時表示，非常高興與華勒斯眾議員一起率團訪台，他特別恭賀新當選及連任的立委，透過選舉反映人民真正的心聲，也提醒民主雖然美好也非常脆弱，與大家共勉；他並代表訪團對花蓮地震的受難家屬表示誠摯的慰問。他續提及，澳洲與台灣往來密切，擁有深厚的情感，官方與民間互動，以及各種體育賽事、文教交流都非常熱絡，他樂見台灣大量進口澳洲的天然氣與礦產，同時也感謝台灣出口許多高科技產品到澳洲。
In his remarks, Member of Parliament Neumann expressed his delight to be the cochair of the delegation to Taiwan with Mr. Wallace. He congratulated the newly elected and re-elected legislators. Elections reflect the true voice of people. He reminded that democracy is beautiful but also fragile. On behalf of the delegation, he expressed his sincere condolences to the family of the victims and injured in Hualien earthquake. He continued to mention that Australia and Taiwan enjoy close interaction and strong bond. Interactions between two governments and peoples are vey close, including various sports events, cultural and educational exchanges. He welcomed Taiwan to import a large quantity of Austria’s LNG and minerals and thanked Taiwan for exporting high-tech products to Australia.
共同團長華勒斯眾議員則感謝韓院長及委員們的熱情歡迎，也恭賀所有當選的委員。他提到訪團有3位成員來自好客及熱情的昆士蘭省，他要代表昆士蘭及澳洲人民表達對台灣人民的感謝及慰問之意。他續提到台澳在安全、貿易及民間交流等領域緊密相連，但在全球民主制度備受挑戰之際，澳洲將堅定地與台灣站在一起；而台灣是澳洲第七大貿易夥伴，並且在澳洲有上萬名台灣留學生及五萬名台僑，顯示出台澳關係密切友好。此外，澳洲選民都非常支持國會議員造訪台灣，顯示台澳是理念相近的重要民主夥伴。
Member of Parliament Wallace thanked President Han and attending legislators for their warm hospitality. He congratulated all elected legislators. He mentioned that there were three delegation members from Queensland. On behalf of the people of Queensland and Australia, he wanted to thank and express condolences to the people of Taiwan. He noted that Taiwan and Australia enjoy close relations in the fields of security, trade and people-to-people exchanges. As global democracy faces challenges, Australia will stand firmly with Taiwan. Taiwan marks the seventh largest trading partner of Australia. There are more than 10,000 students and 50,000 Taiwanese in Australia, showing our close and cordial relations. In addition, Australian voters are very supportive of their members of parliament to visit Taiwan, demonstrating that Taiwan and Australia are like-minded partners in democracy.
雙方致詞後，韓院長致贈立法院國會友誼紀念徽章予訪團成員，象徵台澳友情長存，隨後雙方一同前往宴會廳午宴，席間訪賓就立法院如何維護台海安全議題提出詢問，江副院長表示，台灣人民對維護國家安全是跨黨派的共識，各政黨雖對於政策執行方式及預算編列或有不同的看法，但在國防、安全、外交等議題上，彼此的共識就是維護台灣安全。雙方另就國會議事、台灣選舉、馬習二會及台澳關係現況等議題深入交換意見。本次拜會及午宴歷約1小時40分，氣氛友好愉快，餐會結束後，「台灣與澳洲、紐西蘭國會友好聯誼會」會長邱議瑩委員特別陪同訪團一行參觀議場並就共同關心議題進行交流，嗣由立法院國際事務處同仁導覽院區，訪團蒞院參訪在輕鬆愉快的氛圍中畫下圓滿的句點。
After their remarks, President Han presented a parliamentary amity commemorative pin to each member of the delegation, symbolizing the everlasting friendship between Taiwan and Australia. Afterwards, both sides proceeded to the banquet hall for luncheon. During the luncheon, an issue was raised about how the Legislative Yuan safeguards security across the Taiwan Strait. Vice President Chiang responded by stating that it is cross-party consensus to protect national security. Different political parties may have ways of implementing policy and allocating budget, but they have consensus in issues related to national defense, security and diplomacy. And the major consensus above all is to safeguard security across the Taiwan Strait. Both sides had in-depth discussions on issues related with parliamentary rules of procedures, Taiwan’s elections, second Ma-Xi meeting and Taiwan-Australia relations.
