立法院韓國瑜院長於本（5月1）日下午在江啟臣副院長、國民黨陳永康委員、民進黨陳冠廷委員、民眾黨麥玉珍委員、國際事務處楊芳苓副處長等人陪同下，接見美國「民主黨州主席協會」（ASDC）一行8人。
On the afternoon of May 1, President of the Legislative Yuan Daniel K.Y. Han, accompanied by Vice President Dr. Johnny C. Chiang, legislator Chen Yeong-kang from the Kuomintang (KMT), legislator Chen Kuan-ting from the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), legislator Mai Yu-chen from the Taiwan People’s Party (TPP), and Deputy Director of the International Affairs Department Yang Fang-ling, received an eight-member delegation from the Association of State Democratic Chairs (ASDC).
韓院長首先誠摯歡迎訪賓，並偕出席委員與訪賓合影後，逐一介紹出席之江副院長及3位黨團代表。接續致詞時感謝美國民主黨對台灣的堅定支持，不但多次通過友台決議案，支持台灣加入「世界衛生組織」（WHO）等國際組織，拜登（Joe Biden）總統更多次強調台海和平的重要性，立法院對於美國的支持與友誼，銘感於內。他介紹立法院為單一國會，在113席立委中有72位加入「臺美國會議員聯誼會」，顯示立法院非常重視美國國會。他特別說明今日現場有眾多媒體，因為海外5千多萬華人甚為關切新一屆立法院的運作，盼藉由報導能讓全世界深入認識華人地區唯一擁有高度民主自由與法治的台灣。
President Han warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and, after a group photo with the attendees, individually introduced Vice President Chiang and the three party caucus representatives present. In his address, President Han expressed gratitude for the Democratic Party's steadfast support of Taiwan, noting their numerous resolutions in favor of Taiwan, including support for Taiwan's participation in international organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO). He also acknowledged President Joe Biden's repeated emphasis on the importance of peace in the Taiwan Strait, expressing deep appreciation for the support and friendship from the United States. President Han provided an overview of the Legislative Yuan as a unicameral legislature, highlighting that 72 of the 113 legislators are members of the Legislative Yuan USA Caucus (LUC), underscoring the Legislative Yuan's strong emphasis on relations with the U.S. Congress. He specifically mentioned that there were numerous media outlets present because over 50 million overseas Chinese are highly concerned about the operations of the new Legislative Yuan. He expressed the hope that through media coverage, the world would gain a deeper understanding of Taiwan as the only region in the Chinese-speaking world that enjoys high levels of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law.
舒默（Mike Schmuhl）主席致詞時表示相當榮幸來到立法院並感謝韓院長撥冗接見。他介紹本次訪團成員來自美國8個州，從東橫跨到西，抵台至今3天學習良多，參訪了政府機關、非政府組織和學校，其中與師大附中學生的互動令他感受到台灣高中生的活潑朝氣。他繼稱，美國國會亦有「國會台灣連線」，其中民主黨多達100位國會議員，拜登總統亦為民主黨領袖，於本年簽署了有關印太地區安全的國防相關法案，顯示對於台灣的重視。他最後盛讚台灣蓬勃的民主、創新的經濟、多元的社會文化與熱情的人民，他非常期盼接續的行程與對話。
Chairperson Mike Schmuhl expressed his great honor to visit the Legislative Yuan and express his gratitude to President Han for accommodating the meeting. He introduced the delegation members from 8 states across the United States, spanning from East to West. Since arriving in Taiwan three days ago, they have learned a lot from visiting government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and schools. He particularly mentioned that the interaction with students from the Affiliated Senior High School of National Taiwan Normal University impressed him with the lively vigor of Taiwanese high school students. He continued by noting the Congressional Taiwan Caucus in the U.S. Congress, which includes up to 100 Democratic members. President Biden, as leader of the Democratic Party, signed defense-related legislation concerning Indo-Pacific regional security earlier this year, demonstrating the importance the U.S. placed on Taiwan. Finally, he praised Taiwan's vibrant democracy, innovative economy, diverse social and cultural fabric, and passionate people. He looks forward eagerly to continuing the itinerary and dialogue ahead.
江副院長致詞時亦歡迎訪團蒞臨，嗣說明立法院過去主要政黨數量有所增減，正顯示民主的活力及多樣。他亦說明台灣國會選舉4年1次，相較於美國國會2年改選，更能休養生息，並敬祝訪團旅程順利，盼望未來有機會在美國相見及密切交流。
Vice President Chiang also welcomed the visiting delegation in his speech, and then explained that the number of major political parties in the Legislative Yuan has fluctuated over time, demonstrating the vitality and diversity of democracy. He also noted that Taiwan holds parliamentary elections once every four years, contrasting with the biennial elections of the U.S. Congress, which allows for greater stability and rejuvenation. He extended his best wishes for the delegation's smooth journey and expressed hope for future opportunities to meet and engage closely in the United States.
陳永康委員致詞時代表國民黨再次歡迎訪團，並以立法院外交及國防委員會成員的身分，感謝美國長期支持台灣民主、國防安全及區域穩定，盼望未來雙方能持續交流。最後他補充自己畢業於美國海軍戰爭學院（Naval War College），是訪團成員羅德島州主席的故鄉。
Legislator Chen Yeong-kang, representing the KMT, welcomed the delegation once again in his speech. As a member of the Foreign and National Defense Committee of the Legislative Yuan, he expressed gratitude for the United States' longstanding support for Taiwan's democracy, national defense, and regional stability. He expressed hope for continued communication between the two sides in the future. Lastly, he added that he graduated from the U.S. Naval War College, which is in the home state of one of the delegation members, Chair of the Rhode Island Democratic Party.
陳冠廷委員致詞時先介紹自己畢業於美國威斯康辛大學麥迪遜分校（University of Wisconsin–Madison），接著歡迎訪團來到台灣，盼訪團能與立法院不同政黨委員多加交流，以瞭解不同政黨理念及觀點，增進對台海安全穩定及未來可能合作項目之認識。
Legislator Chen Kuan-ting began his speech by introducing himself as a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison in the United States. He then welcomed the delegation to Taiwan and expressed hope that the delegation members would engage in extensive exchanges with legislators from various political parties. This would facilitate a better understanding of different party ideologies and perspectives, thereby enhancing awareness of Taiwan Strait security and stability as well as potential future cooperation projects.
麥玉珍委員代表民眾黨歡迎訪團，她說今日特別高興見到美國人，因在越南有一說法是見到美國人就可以去美國，語畢眾人皆莞爾一笑。她盼台美間的貿易關係能有更多發展，將台灣優質的農產品出口至美國，使美國的越南、台灣及華人朋友皆能享受台灣美食。
Legislator Mai Yu-chen, representing the TPP, welcomed the delegation and expressed her delight at meeting Americans today. She shared a humorous anecdote that in Vietnam, there is a saying that seeing Americans means one can go to the U.S., which elicited smiles from everyone present. She expressed hope for further development in Taiwan-US trade relations, aiming to export Taiwan's high-quality agricultural products to the United States. This would allow Vietnamese, Taiwanese, and ethnic Chinese people in the United States to enjoy Taiwanese cuisine.
雙邊交流時，訪賓就在台行程、台灣民主、錯假訊息等議題與我深度交換意見，氣氛坦誠愉快。在雙方互贈禮品後結束本次會談，訪團在國際事務處同仁導覽下參訪立法院議場。本次拜會及參訪歷約1.5小時，在溫馨歡樂、友好愉快的氣氛中畫下圓滿的句點。
During bilateral exchanges, the visiting delegation engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as their itinerary in Taiwan, Taiwan’s democracy, and misinformation and disinformation, fostering a candid and enjoyable atmosphere. Following the exchange of gifts between both parties, the meeting concluded. Guided by colleagues from the International Affairs Office, the delegation toured the Legislative Yuan chambers. The entire meeting and tour lasted approximately 1.5 hours, concluding on a high note of warmth, happiness, and friendly relations.
