立法院張裕榮副秘書長於本(7月22)日下午在國際事務處楊芳苓副處長陪同下,接見「美國中西部政治領袖訪問團」一行11人,駐芝加哥臺北經濟文化辦事處黃奕龍副組長亦隨行陪同。
On the afternoon of July 22, Legislative Yuan Deputy Secretary-General Dr. Chang Yu-Jung, accompanied by Deputy Director Yang Fang-Ling of the Department of International Affairs, met with an eleven-member delegation of political leaders from the Midwestern U.S. region. Also in attendance was Deputy Section Chief of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago Huang Yi-Long.
張副秘書長表示很榮幸代表韓國瑜院長接見美國愛荷華州、伊利諾州、印第安那州、密西根州、俄亥俄州及威斯康辛州的傑出政治領袖們,盛讚貴賓在各州推動公共政策上扮演重要角色,感謝安排立法院作為抵臺首站,彰顯臺灣與美國間長久的友誼與日益深厚的合作,他代表中華民國立法院表達竭誠歡迎。
Deputy Secretary-General Chang stated he was honored to represent Legislative Yuan President Daniel K.Y. Han in welcoming the outstanding political leaders from the States of Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin. He praised the delegates for their important roles in promoting public policy in their respective states and thanked them for making the Legislative Yuan their first stop in this trip to Taiwan, which highlights the long-standing friendship and deepening cooperation between Taiwan and the U.S. Deputy Secretary General Chang, representing the Legislative Yuan of the Republic of China, once again extended a sincere welcome to the delegation.
張副秘書長續謂,臺灣與美國不僅共享共同的民主價值觀,亦持續深化貿易、投資、教育和科技等領域。美國中西部地區憑藉其蓬勃發展的產業和創新能量,早已是臺美雙邊不可或缺的重要夥伴。我們期待未來能在基礎建設、區域安全,以及民間交流等領域,持續拓展臺美雙邊合作。
Deputy Secretary-General Chang went on saying that Taiwan and the U.S. not only share common democratic values but also continue to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, education, and technology. He noted that the Midwestern U.S. region, with its vibrant industries and innovative capability, has long been an indispensable and important partner for both sides. Deputy Secretary-General Chang conveyed hope for continuous expansion of bilateral cooperation in the future in areas such as infrastructure, regional security, and people-to-people exchanges.
張副秘書長亦期許透過持續交流與相互理解,繼續鞏固臺美的民主韌性,為兩國人民共同建立一個更安全、更繁榮的未來。張副秘書長最後希望各位訪賓盡情享受在臺灣的時光,並透過此次訪問能更加瞭解臺灣的立法程序,以及對自由和民主的承諾。此次參訪在互贈紀念品及合影後,由國際事務處人員陪同導覽議場,歷約80分鐘圓滿落幕。
He also expressed his hope to keep strengthening the democratic resilience of both Taiwan and the U.S. and building a safer and more prosperous future for the people of both countries through ongoing exchanges and mutual understanding. Finally, Deputy Secretary-General Chang said that he hoped all the delegates would enjoy their time in Taiwan and use this visit to gain a better understanding of Taiwan's legislative process and its commitment to freedom and democracy. Following the exchange of commemorative gifts and a group photo, staff from the Department of International Affairs accompanied the delegation on a guided tour of the Legislative Yuan chamber. The visit concluded successfully after approximately 80 minutes.
