A Legislative Yuan delegation led by Vice President Dr. Johnny C. Chiang (江啟臣) arrived in Paraguay this afternoon (Nov 18). They proceeded to the Chamber of Deputies and met with its President, Raúl Luis Latorre Martínez. Vice President Chiang expressed Legislative Yuan President Daniel K.Y. Han’s (韓國瑜) regards and thanked President Martínez for the meeting amid his busy schedule. He pointed out that Paraguay is Taiwan’s most steadfast ally in South America. Although located at opposite corners of the world, both countries share universal values such as freedom, democracy, human rights and rule of law. As a result, the physical distance apart is almost miniscule in the face of the affinity fostered.
拉多雷議長回應表示，今日能接待江副院長及立法院跨黨派訪團非常感動，他也以家人比喻臺巴關係，強調今日如同見到遠方的家人，令他無比欣慰。
President Martinez responded by expressing his appreciation toward Vice President Chiang and the cross-party delegation. He characterized Taiwan-Paraguay relations as kinship and reiterated that this visit felt similar to seeing family members come from afar.
江副院長特別感謝拉多雷眾議長多次在國際場合為臺灣仗義發聲。他並表示，眾議長於上（10）月率團訪臺期間，立法院特別選用巴拉圭優質牛肉製作臺式牛肉麵款待，副院長以牛肉麵比喻臺巴關係稱，必需有巴拉圭的牛肉，搭配臺灣的湯頭醬料及火候，才能燉煮出獨一無二的世界美味，象徵臺巴合作緊密無間，他期盼未來在教育、科技、醫療等領域的交流也能持續深化。
Vice President Chiang also thanks President Martinez for advocating for Taiwan in international events on multiple occasions. He recalled that President Martinez led a delegation to Taiwan last month (October) and the Legislative Yuan treated them to a special Taiwanese beef noodle dish prepared with premium Paraguayan beef. Using the beef noodles as a metaphor, Taiwan-Paraguay relations require the combination of Paraguayan beef and Taiwanese broth, sauce and culinary skill in order to make a one-of-a-kind gourmet dish. He hoped that the close connection shared by the two countries would lead to stronger exchanges in education, technology, medicine, etc.
隨後，江副院長一行與眾議院臺巴友好委員會主席葛馬拉（Rodrigo Gamarra）等超過15餘位議員座談。江副院長表示，曾兩度在立法院接待拉多雷議長，今日有機會回訪倍感親切，也感受到巴拉圭國會對臺灣展現的熱情、友情與堅定支持，令人感動。江副院長並指出，本次訪問團成員來自跨黨派，展現巴拉圭是臺灣跨黨派的共識與友誼所在，透過此次交流訪問，期盼能進一步深化兩國國會間的合作與情誼。
Later on, Vice President Chiang and the delegation met with Rodrigo Gamarra, the President of the Comisión Parlamentaria Conjunta de Amistad con la República de China (Taiwán) and more than 15 other Chamber Members. Having received President Martinez twice at the Legislative Yuan, Vice President Chiang was grateful for the opportunity to visit Paraguay and experience the hospitality, friendship, and unwavering supporting of the Paraguayan Parliament. He pointed out that the Taiwan delegation was a cross-party one, embodying the consensus and friendship with Paraguay that transcended party differences. The exchange visit was aimed at further deepening parliamentary cooperation and goodwill between the two sides.
當日晚間，拉多雷眾議長伉儷在官邸庭院設宴款待江副院長一行，現場除有超過眾議院1/3、近30位議員出席外，亞松森市長Luis Bello亦共襄盛舉。除了精心安排的美食，議長特別安排別具特色的巴拉圭傳統舞蹈，為晚宴增添熱鬧氣氛。
President Martinez and his wife hosted a dinner banquet later that evening to receive Vice President Chiang and the delegation. Nearly 30 Chamber members, more than one-third the total number of members, attended the banquet, along with Luis Bello, the Mayor of Asunción. Apart from exquisite gourmet food, a traditional Paraguayan dance performance was arranged to enliven the atmosphere of the banquet.
