The delegation led by Legislative Yuan Vice President Dr. Johnny C. Chiang (江啟臣) left Paraguay and arrived at Dallas, Texas this morning (Nov 22). They commenced the day’s itinerary as arranged by Director-General Yvonne Hsiao from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Houston.
江副院長午間設宴款待德州參議員Brent Hagenbuch、眾議員陳筱玲、普萊諾（Plano）市長John Muns及理查森（Richardson）市長Amir Omar等。副院長致詞時表示，很榮幸代表韓國瑜院長率團出訪美國及巴拉圭，本次是他一年多來第三度訪問德州，除肯定德州優越的投資環境，亦欣見去（113）年7月州政府在臺設立「德州駐台辦事處」（State of Texas Taiwan Office），本年10月我國航又新增臺灣-達拉斯直線航班，顯見臺灣與德州的交流往來更加密切，尤其經貿關係更是蓬勃發展，以去（2024）年為例，臺德雙邊貿易額已達258億美元，臺商對德州的投資，也已突破141億美元。
Vice President Chiang hosted a luncheon for Texas State Senator Brent Hagenbuch, Texas State Representative Angie Chen Button, Mayor of Plano John Muns, and Mayor of Richardson Amir Omar, among others. In his remarks, he expressed the honor he felt in representing the Legislative Yuan and President Daniel K.Y. Han (韓國瑜) on this visit to the U.S. and Paraguay. This trip marked the third time he had been to Texas in just over a year. Apart from recognizing the excellent investment environment in Texas, he was also delighted to note that the State of Texas Taiwan Office established in July 2024 was up and running, and that a new direct flight was added last October between Taiwan and Dallas. With better ease of traveling, engagements between the two sides can be enhanced. In particular, trade relations are blooming. Taking 2024 as an example, trade between Taiwan and Texas amounted to an astounding US$25.8 billion. Furthermore, investments made by Taiwanese businesses in Texas have exceeded US$14.1 billion.
對此，在座賓客咸有同感，表示臺灣及德州雙邊關係越來越緊密，德州從州籍到各郡、市政府也致力創造更好的投資環境，期待更多臺商前來投資設廠。隨後雙方就政治制度、產業發展、訪臺經驗、直航等議題廣泛交換意見。
The assembled guests agreed that the bilateral relations between Taiwan and Texas are getting closer. Ranging from the state government to county and city governments, Texas is fostering a better environment conducive to investment in hopes of attracting more Taiwanese businesses to invest and set up factories in the state. Later, the two delegations exchange views on issues covering political systems, industry development, previous visits to Taiwan, and direct flights.
下午，江副院長一行前往本年8月成立的「達拉斯臺灣貿易投資中心」，關心該中心運作情形；接續走訪緯創德州辦公室，聽取該公司在美佈局策略、投資現況、僱用員工及輪班制度等，並實地參觀工廠運作；隨後再赴系統電子德州廠，瞭解該公司自動化生產線、與美國客戶合作現況與未來展望，以及如何實踐「台灣設計、美國製造」的目標。
In the afternoon, Vice President Chiang and the delegation headed to the Taiwan Trade and Investment Service Center, Dallas established in August this year to observe its operations. The delegation then visited Wistron’s office to learn about their deployment strategies in the U.S., investment situation, manpower and shift system, as well as observing the operation of its factory. Afterwards, they headed to the Sysgration Plano Factory to get to know their automated production lines, collaborations with American clients, future prospects, and the implementation of “Designed in Taiwan, Made in the USA” strategy.
