立法院韓國瑜院長於本（5月9）日晚間率領立法院跨黨派委員代表團，赴法國及英國推動國會外交，此次代表團成員共計10人，包含「中華民國與英國國會聯誼會」會長張嘉郡委員、「台灣與法國國會友好協會」會長林楚茵委員、副會長邱議瑩委員，以及國民黨楊瓊瓔委員、魯明哲委員、羅廷瑋委員；民進黨李柏毅委員、王義川委員；民眾黨邱慧洳委員。立法院江啟臣副院長、周萬來秘書長及外交部葛葆萱常務次長亦親赴機場送行。
On the evening of May 9, Legislative Yuan President Daniel K.Y. Han (韓國瑜) led a cross-party delegation of legislators from the Legislative Yuan to France and the United Kingdom to advance congressional diplomacy. The ten-member delegation included Dr. Alice Chang, KMT Legislator and Chair of the ROC-UK Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association; Lin Chu-Yin, DPP Legislator and Chair of the Taiwan-France Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association; Chiu Yi-Ying, DPP Legislator and Vice Chair of the Taiwan-France Inter-Parliamentary Amity Association; KMT Legislators Dr. Yang Chiung-Ying, Lu Ming-Che, and Lo Ting-Wei; DPP Legislators Lee Po-Yi and Dr. Wang Yi-Chuan; and TPP Legislator Dr. Chiu Hui-Ju. Legislative Yuan Vice President Dr. Johnny C. Chiang (江啟臣), Secretary General Chou Wan-Lai, and Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Ger Bau-Shuan also came to the airport to see the delegation off.
韓院長偕跨黨派立委於桃園機場受訪表示，此行他率跨黨團委員出訪法、英兩國，主要是應法國參議院友台小組及歐洲台灣商會聯合總會的邀請，除與歐洲國會議員朋友們交流，也希望可以藉此行親自為海外打拼的台商與僑胞朋友們加油打氣。此外也將代表台灣民主基金會，與合作夥伴英國西敏寺民主基金會交流，深化情誼。
Speaking to the press at Taoyuan International Airport, President Han stated that he was leading a cross-party delegation to France and the United Kingdom at the invitation of the French Senate’s Taiwan Friendship Group and the Council of Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce in Europe. In addition to exchanging views with European parliamentarians, he expressed his hope that the visit would provide an opportunity to personally offer encouragement and support to Taiwanese businesspeople and overseas compatriots who have been working hard abroad. He added that, on behalf of the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD), the delegation would also engage in exchanges with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, a partner organization, to further deepen the friendship between the two foundations.
韓院長繼謂，台灣目前外交處境艱困，拓展國際空間實屬不易，此行率領立法院跨黨派委員，將代表中華民國全體國民，與歐洲的國際友人傳遞台灣五項優勢。第一是台灣具有全球領先的高科技半導體技術；第二是台灣具有傲視全球的醫療衛生技術，並且擁有充滿高度專業及人道關懷的醫護人員；第三是佔台灣整體企業比重九成五的中小企業，舉凡鋼鐵、紡織、運動用品、化工等，孕育了無數產業的隱形冠軍，造福全世界包含歐洲人的生活；第四，台灣是全球名列前茅的宜居國度，治安良好、宗教自由；今日適逢媽祖誕辰，街上大大小小慶祝活動，展現了台灣的多元面貌與生命力；第五，是透過台灣人幾十年來努力打拼，也是最為驕傲的優點，即台灣是百分之百享有民主自由的公民社會，民主已經轉化為所有台灣人的DNA。
President Han went on to state that Taiwan currently faces a challenging diplomatic environment and that expanding its international space is no easy task. During this visit, he will lead a cross-party delegation of legislators from the Legislative Yuan and, on behalf of all citizens of the Republic of China (Taiwan), convey Taiwan’s five strengths to its European friends. He said that, first, Taiwan possesses globally leading high-tech semiconductor technology. Second, Taiwan boasts world-class medical and healthcare technologies, as well as healthcare personnel distinguished by their high level of professionalism and humanitarian compassion. Third, small and medium-sized enterprises account for 95 percent of all businesses in Taiwan. Across industries such as steel, textiles, sporting goods, and chemicals, these enterprises have nurtured numerous hidden champions that have benefited people around the world, including those in Europe. Fourth, Taiwan is one of the world’s most livable places, with good public security and freedom of religion. Today happens to be Mazu’s birthday, and celebrations of all sizes taking place throughout the streets demonstrate Taiwan’s diversity and vitality. Fifth, and perhaps the strength of which Taiwan is most proud, is that through decades of hard work and perseverance by the Taiwanese people, Taiwan has become a civil society that enjoys democracy and freedom in full. Democracy has become part of the DNA of all Taiwanese people.
韓院長最後表示，作為中華民國立法院院長，此行率團盼達成三項目標，讓未曾來過台灣的歐洲朋友走訪台灣；讓來訪台灣的歐洲朋友喜歡台灣；讓離開台灣的歐洲朋友想念台灣。立法院代表團將一起為台灣的外交努力。
In closing, President Han stated that, as President of the Legislative Yuan of the Republic of China (Taiwan), he hopes to achieve three objectives through this visit: to inspire European friends who have never been to Taiwan to visit; to ensure those who visit to develop a fondness for Taiwan; and to leave those who depart longing to return. He reaffirmed that the Legislative Yuan delegation will work together in support of Taiwan’s diplomatic endeavors.
