Dearest Honorable President of the Legislative Yuan, fellow legislators:
I would like to express how deeply honored I am to have attended this meeting, and to be standing in front you giving a speech, through which I hope to convey my utmost respect to the noble people of your nation.
When I arrived in the capital of the Republic of China, I brought with me the greetings and best wishes of the Turkish people to the noble people of your nation. I am happy that it is my duty to convey the sentiments of my countrymen to your people.
The people from the Republic of China and Turkey are truly incrediblegreat nations. Our traditions can be traced far back in history. The birth of our two nations can be traced back to the dawn beginning of civilization. We have lived close to each other for several centuries, allowing us to establish a relationship where we influenced each other’s cultures and left our mark trace and achievements in many aspects of different civilizations around the globe. Our nations can be very proud of this great legacy.
In addition to this glorious history, we have shouldered taken new important responsibilities of great importance to mankind. Among these responsibilities, Our primary responsibility is undoubtedly our the most important contributions is to maintaining world peace, more than and preservingto preserve that which is far more valuable than material wealth: the spirit of freedomwchich other free countries take for granted.
Nowadays, the free world is facing a dire and virulent menace. The expansion and aggressive tactics of communist imperialism are spreading all over the world. Its goals: to conquer the world and control the freedom, independence, and way of life of every nation. In short, its very essence of existence represents a fundamental crisis. No nation or territory in this world is immune to such a danger, and none can confront it alone. The most terrible characteristic of this menace is that it is sometimes difficult for others to recognize it. It can take various forms, disguise itself, and adapt to local conditions, and as such it can use any type of tactic or method to achieve its evil objectives.
It exists in the Far East as well as in the Middle East, and is the primary cause of the instability and uneasiness we see in these areas. It also threatens Europe, Asia, and even the American continent.
Faced with such a threat, the only hope of the free world is to unite, organize itself for its own defense, and maintain an unshakable unity.
This menace has been recognized in certain parts of the free world since the end of World War II, and appropriate and effective counter-measures have been taken to curb its continued expansion. Therefore, various collective security mechanisms, such as the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the Southeast Asian Treaty Organization and the Baghdad ConventionPact, have all been established. These organizations are founded on the determination of all ethnic groups in the threatened areas to defend their freedom and independence. Their efforts are fully and actively supported by the United States.
As I have saidmentioned, communist imperialism uses many methods to achieve its own agenda. Indeed, besides direct military attack, it also engages in political oppression, unsupported invasions, covert infiltrations and propaganda campaigns. Allow me to mention the situation of a few countries, especially those in the Far East and Middle East regions, to illustrate what I just said. In these countries, communist imperialism manipulates the sentiments and feelings of the people to prevent these nations from stabilizing and provoke even the smallest degree of misunderstanding to incite conflict.
One common ploy used by international communism is to capitalize on manipulate the anti-colonial sentiments in these countries.
The emerging Asian countries that gained their freedom and independence after a long period of fierce national conflict are naturally opposed to colonialism. Turkey is determined to safeguard its freedom and independence. It is well known that we have always opposed colonialism; however, when discussing colonialism, we must take into account all its different aspects, and we must oppose and denounce new forms of imperialism, as this is the objective of international communism, which they intend to carry it out by infiltrating disruptive forces. Therefore, we must adopt appropriate counter-measures to stop this form of colonialism, which has become the greatest crisis the world has encountered.
Turkey has always stood together on the front line with people that wish to obtain freedom and independence. We are preparing to cooperate with these countries, yet we must never forget that international communism is making dangerous advancements behind the veil of independence movements. It is adapting itself to this trend since it intends to infiltrate all aspects of life. This is extremely dangerous and must be stopped.
Turkey and its government have valuable experience in these matters. I speak on behalf of this country and I can express these opinions frankly and confidently. Therefore, I believe I can reach out to Asian countries that who support the ideals of freedom and independence. It is not sufficient to have gained independence and freedom for oneself. These sacred values must be preserved forever, and this can only be achieved by putting an end to the dark current of international communism.
In modern history, there are many obvios examples that illustrate how ignoringThey ignore these facts so that endangers the freedom and independence of peace-loving peoples, and might even cause the downfall of their countries. Therefore, I earnestly hope that these peace-loving countries in the Far East will do their best to further unify. This is the prerequisite condition to ensure the survival of the state and to protect the freedom, rights, and interests of your peoples.
My trip to the Far East is coming to an end; I will return to my country soon. Since arriving to your great nation, I have been warmly welcomed and treated with the greatest hospitality. This is a clear manifestation of the solid and reliable friendship that exists between the people of our two countries. We highly cherish this relationship.
When I return to Turkey, I will bring back the friendship you have extended to my people. I am certain that this visit will further strengthen the sincere and amicable relationship between our two nations.
