According to Article 16-1 of Organic Statute of the Legislative Yuan, Department of international affairs undertakes the following operations:
Matters concerning the international exchange
Matters concerning the international cooperation
Matters concerning the international information
Matters concerning the protocal affairs
Other matters related to international affairs
Inter-Parliamentary Exchanges Section:
●Coordinate and plan international exchanges for the Legislative Yuan.
●Organize receptions for visiting foreign dignitaries.
●Arrange official visits abroad and participation in major international activities for the President, Vice President and high-ranking officials of the Legislative Yuan.
●Liaise and interact with foreign embassies, representative offices and institutions in Taiwan.
●Assist legislators in making official visits abroad.
●Provide logistic and administrative assistance for parliamentary diplomacy.
International Cooperation Section:
●Promote Legislative Yuan’s participations in international parliamentary organizations.
●Cooperate with the United Nations and its specialized agencies and other international organizations; Participate in international conferences and major events.
●Liaise with overseas compatriots’ communities and Taiwanese entrepreneurs and coordinate their visits to the Legislative Yuan.
●Assist in establishing Inter-Parliamentary Amity Associations in the Legislative Yuan.
International Information Services Section:
●Assist in translating documents of parliamentary diplomacy.
●Provide information service to international media and manage international communication.
●Collect related international news and the updates of other parliaments.
●Compile track record and statistics of parliamentary diplomacy and create the database.
●Arrange exchanges with foreign parliamentary officials.
Protocol Section:
●Plan training programs for personnel engaging in international affairs.
●Take charge of the awarding of the Parliamentary Medal of Honor.
●Take charge of the reception of Medals from foreign countries.
●Assist legislators in applying for reimbursement of parliamentary diplomacy expenses
●Arrange airport courtesies and other expedited treatments for legislators and visiting foreign dignitaries.
●Manage official gifts, protocol and parliamentary diplomatic related affairs.
