Vice President Dr. Johnny C. Chiang (江啟臣) hosted a Legislative Yuan banquet yesterday evening (December 10) at the Hilton Singapore Orchard for the "2nd Board Meeting of the 33rd Asia Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (ASTCC)." The event was attended by a host of distinguished guests, including KMT Legislators Dr. Cheng Cheng-Chien, Hung Mong-Kai, Lu Yu-Ling, Huang Chien-Hao, Chen Ching-Hui, and Dr. Lin Chien-Chi; DPP Legislator Ho Hsin-Chun; Representative Tung Chen-Yuan of the Taipei Representative Office in Singapore; 33rd term ASTCC President Chen Shu-Chin; ASTCC Chief Supervisor Cheng Mei-Man; and President Johnson Hsiung of the World Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce (WTCC). Representatives of Taiwanese businesses from across Asian countries also gathered to participate in the grand event.
The banquet commenced with a powerful drum performance, after which Vice President Chiang delivered his opening remarks on behalf of the Legislative Yuan. He expressed his pleasure at hosting Taiwanese businesspeople from around the world in Singapore on behalf of the Legislative Yuan Republic of China and its President Daniel K.Y. Han (韓國瑜), and conveyed his highest respect and best wishes to all attendees. He paid tribute to Taiwanese businesspeople who built their success overseas from humble beginnings, embodying the resilient Taiwanese spirit, and said, “We are truly grateful for all of you.” He emphasized that the success of Taiwanese businesspeople is the success of Taiwan, and represents the best international image Taiwan can present to the world.
Vice President Chiang noted that the international situation has become volatile in recent years, much like the unpredictable challenges faced in the business world; nevertheless, the achievements of Taiwanese businesspeople are evident to all. He highlighted that under the leadership of President Han, the current Legislative Yuan has fully supported parliamentary diplomacy, adding that as of the end of November this year, the Legislative Yuan has received 428 delegations from 77 countries, totaling nearly 5,000 visitors. He shared that many guests have consistently remarked on Taiwan’s economic strength, solid international competitiveness, and the global economic footprints of Taiwanese businesspeople. Vice President Chiang said these accomplishments and honors deserve another round of applause.
Vice President Chiang emphasized that the Legislative Yuan is the strongest support for Taiwanese businesspeople around the world, and that this commitment is not merely rhetorical. He outlined three firm commitments of the Legislative Yuan toward Taiwanese businesspeople. First, the Legislative Yuan fully supports the global expansion of Taiwanese enterprises, and will provide cross-party support for any policy that benefits business development. Second, it is committed to building a high-quality domestic investment environment to encourage businesses to return to Taiwan and deepen their roots at home. Third, it seeks to strengthen communication channels between Taiwanese businesspeople and the government, ensuring that voices from the business community are heard and that corresponding policy measures can be delivered. These three commitments represent the shared consensus of all 113 legislators, and the Legislative Yuan will continue striving to serve as the most reliable pillar of support.
In closing, Vice President Chiang stated that the evening’s banquet was a “family gathering,” with everyone present regarded as part of the same family. He warmly invited attendees to return often to the Legislative Yuan, which he described as their warm home. He also commended ASTCC President Chen and her team for their dedication and efforts since taking office, and wished all guests continued prosperity and success in their endeavors.
Following Vice President Chiang’ s remarks, WTCC President Hsiung and ASTCC Founding President Yu Sheng-Ching delivered their remarks respectively. Vice President Chiang and President Chen then exchanged commemorative gifts. The banquet lasted approximately three hours and concluded successfully in a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere of exchange.
